Career Studies Project 2016-17
In February of 2017, the ministry began working with 29 educators from across Ontario, representing Catholic, public and French school boards. The focus of the project was on revitalizing and renewing the teaching and learning within the grade 10 Career Studies course. The participants focused on exploring one of four content areas: financial literacy, digital literacy, pathways planning and entrepreneurship. The ministry provided a framework module (an outline of a possible approach, with associated resources and supports) for each topic. Working with other educators and the ministry, participants adapted these modules for the students in their classrooms.
These frameworks are the starting points that were used for the 2016-17 project and are meant to be modified and adapted.
The following resources are starting points to encourage reflective practice, professional discussions, and to develop promising approaches to the grade 10 Career Studies course. They are specific to the context for which they were developed, and activities may require further modification before they are used. All resources were developed in collaboration with the teachers in the 2016-17 Career Studies Project.
